Climate Risk Assessment and Adaptation Planning
Preparing Collingwood for climate impacts and protecting our community, natural spaces and everyday services.
Current Status
The project is well underway. Here is what we have achieved so far:
- Established a Resilient Collingwood Task Force which is made up of Town staff with a broad range of expertise spanning infrastructure, emergency services, planning, environment, finance, communications and community services. (learn more about the Task Force below)
- Held three in-person workshops with an average of 20 participants representing around 16 areas of expertise
- Reviewed climate impacts specific to Collingwood
- Examined how changing weather patterns may affect municipal services, community spaces, and natural areas
- Assessed which services and systems are most vulnerable to climate impacts
- Evaluated and prioritized key climate risks based on likelihood and potential consequences
Next Steps:
- Setting the overall vision, goals, and objectives for Collingwood’s Climate Adaptation Plan
- Developing an early list of practical adaptation actions
- Confirming priority areas for implementation
- Prepare for community engagement in early Spring
How You Can Participate
There will be several simple, accessible ways to take part as the project progresses:
- Pop-Ups in the community - meet the project team at pop-ups and community events to learn more, tell us what climate impacts matter most to you and help shape priorities.
- Quick polls & short surveys - share your input online through easy, mobile-friendly participation opportunities.
- Follow along - check this page for updates, plain-language explainers and 'What We Heard' summaries at each milestone.
Your feedback helps guide climate priorities and supports a stronger, more weather-ready community.
