Let’s light up this town to show our support and thanks.

Let’s light up Collingwood and Blue Mountain

I have a suggestion to show our thanks and support to front line workers. Doctor’s, nurses, medical professionals, grocery store clerks, truck drivers, fast food workers who are working to aid others through the COVID-19 outbreak.

On a certain date in the future, we ask all citizens to place luminaries or a simple candle outside your home as we unite with light. The town could shine lights on the grain elevators, and hopefully we could get Blue Mountain Ski Resort to light up the hills.

Let us pull together and shine some light on so many deserving people.

Hopefully we can make this happen.

Thank you for your suggestion! While the Town of Collingwood is supportive of efforts to thank our frontline workers, there are some logistical challenges with lighting the Terminals as our efforts and resources are being directed to essential services only, at this time. The Ministry of Health, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the Town of Collingwood are asking everyone to help the spread of this virus by staying at home and self-isolating. Lighting the Terminals does not promote this message. You can join the Town of Collingwood in thanking our community's Front-Line Heroes. At 7:30PM nightly, neighbourhoods are banging pots in their driveways to show support. The Town has created a poster that you can print and hang in your window - here is the link: https://www.collingwood.ca/…/uploads/d…/thank_you_heroes.pdf
