Background
The Town of Collingwood is building a new neighborhood park located in the Summit View Subdivision (31 Plewes Drive) and are seeking feedback from the public.
The lands were acquired through the development of Devonleigh Homes for the creation of park space within the subdivision.
Town staff along with Envision Tatham held a public design charrette in the public park space with the residents and local families of the Summit View Community on August 31, 2022. The purpose of the charrette was to establish neighbourhood goals and objectives, to define an overall vision for Summit View Park and to reach a democratic consensus on priorities. Approximately 40 people attended in person over the course of the event, ranging from elementary school age children to seniors.
Through this community engagement process, a combined total of 360 comments (graphic expressions & written) were received from 44 documented sources.
A second well attended Public Engagement Open House was held on Thursday April 13th 2023 at the Collingwood Public Library Community Rooms B & C to present the outcomes of the first public engagement charrette and the proposed concept park drawings.
Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback on the park design. We are currently in the process of consilidating the comments and feedback.
Exciting News!- The park is currently under constuction and opening Summer 2024
At the November 20th, 2023 Council meeting, Council approved the name of park located within the Summit View subdivision be named den Bok family Park.
History: The den Bok family came to Collingwood from Holland in the late 1940's to work for the Smart's Farms located in the Collingwood area. They eventually bought their own farm which where the Summit View subdivision is located. Many decendents of the den Bok family still reside in the area.
We want to thank everyone who submitted Nomination Forms for the naming of the new neighborhood park.
