ABOUT

The Town of Collingwood recognizes the increased use of activities within the Collingwood Harbour with respect to public safety. Town Council has endorsed Collingwood making formal submission to Transport Canada to impose Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations (VORR) in the Harbour. The Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations (VORR) allow any level of government to ask the federal government to restrict the use of either pleasure craft or commercial vessels on all bodies of water in Canada. The Town of Collingwood is seeking to make a formal submission to Transport Canada under these regulations in order to create enforceable speed parameters within the Collingwood Harbour and reduce the dangers associated with the generation of motorized boat wake. Additionally, the Town seeks to create enforceable “safe zones” that will delineate areas identified for swimming and eliminate conflict with boat traffic for reasons of public safety.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

The survey below is an effort to engage the public in accordance with Transport Canada’s process to apply for VORRs. These questions will helps inform such things as the vessel speed limit and the dimensions of a swim area within the harbour environment.

Any resident of Collingwood is asked to take a minute to participate in the survey to help inform the Town’s application. Survey will close on Friday April 29th, 2022.
