FAQs
What is the purpose of a Master Mobility and Transportation Plan?
A Master Mobility and Transportation Plan will provide the Town with the required long-range planning necessary to identify needs, establish priorities between vehicles, active transportation modes (e.g., cycling, trails) and transit, and provide a planning framework for future infrastructure improvements and network development. It also provides the opportunity for members of the public to voice how content they are with the current transportation network, and what could be done to improve the existing conditions.
Prior transportation studies completed by the Town of Collingwood will be utilized in the development of the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan, encompassing all useful data gathered previously and current / forecasted data from this study.
How is the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan related to other plans and studies?
The Master Mobility and Transportation Plan lays out Collingwood’s overarching strategic vision and priorities for transportation, acting as a guiding document for our community's future. It is closely linked with other Town plans and studies (e.g., Official Plan), which focus on specific areas and are critical to ensuring that the goals outlined in the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan are effectively translated into action.
Following finalization of the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan, the Town will begin to review and implement the individual transportation projects and priorities identified during the process and within the report. These individual projects identified in the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan will be carried through to preliminary and detailed design, and then construction. The timing and implementation of such projects will depend on their priority and approval of budget.
How will the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan be developed?
The creation of the Master Mobility and Transportation Plan will be a collaborative effort between Town Council, Town Staff and their consultant (EXP), residents, businesses, and other community groups. These stakeholders will be consulted on several occasions through different engagement channels and methods. We look forward to hearing from everyone throughout the process!
