Did you know that every day, Town of Collingwood manages nearly $700 Million in infrastructure assets from roads, bridges and sidewalks to recreational facilities, sewers and more? These assets help us serve the community and add to the quality of life in Collingwood.

Collingwood’s Asset Management Plan (AMP)

Just like looking after your car and doing regular maintenance, like oil changes, we need to do the same with our assets to ensure they last for a long time. We also need to plan ahead so that we know where we will focus taxpayer dollars.

At the end of the day, asset planning is about balancing costs, risks and benefits, so we can meet your needs for years and generations to come.

Our Asset Management Plan (AMP) guides how we prioritize and balance every asset for the long term. We are in the process of updating that Plan, which we are required to do through Ontario O. Reg. 588/17. This regulation guides municipalities and requires us to carefully assess and update our approach to delivering critical services for the long term, including:

•    Water
•    Transportation – roads, bridges and sidewalks
•    Stormwater and wastewater systems
•    Recreation facilities and parks

About Levels of Service in the AMP

Asset Management is not just about maintaining assets. It’s also about delivering value in a structured, predictable way that aligns with the community’s needs and priorities. This is what we call Levels of Service.

Levels of Service are defined in three ways: quality, reliability, and availability. It is measured through:

1.    Community feedback
2.    How well the asset performs as it’s supposed to
3.    The activities that support those assets and services (such the amount of maintenance it needs)

We need your feedback to inform this Plan!

We want to know what levels of service you expect, how satisfied you are with what we are doing now, and where your priorities are for the future.

Why Your Participation Matters

Your feedback helps the Town reach four important goals with our assets:

•    They are ready for the future.
•    The Town remains stable and accountable financially.
•    Our solutions are centred on community needs.
•    We hear from as many of our diverse community as possible.

The Town is Responsible for the Following Assets:

Description Quantity Units
Bridge 25 Bridges
Road Linear 147 Kms
Sanitary Sewer 117 Kms
Storm Sewer 79 Kms
Watermain 171 Kms
Facilities 77 Buildings
Transit Shelters 22 Shelters
Streetlights 2,744 Streetlights
Trails 60 km
Parks 38 parks

In addition, the Town is responsible for:

•    Information Technology (IT) Equipment
•    Library    and museum collections
•    Fleet and Equipment; and
•    Parking Lots

We need your feedback!

We would like to understand the community's preferences and priorities related to assets to ensure we are prioritizing what the community wants/values.

We want to know:

  • How well you think we’re doing in maintaining the Town’s assets
  • Where you think we should improve
  • What you think our priorities should be

Our asset management plan will be aligned with the Town’s 2024-2028 Community-Based Strategic Plan that centers on delivering essential programs and services, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet the community's needs.

Together, we can ensure that the services you rely on—clean water, safe roads, efficient stormwater management, and more—continue to meet your needs and those of future generations.
