The Town of Collingwood (“the Town”) has engaged BDO Canada LLP (“BDO”) to develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan to inform the creation of the Town’s 2026–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. In collaboration with the Town, BDO will engage people with disabilities and other relevant stakeholders, and conduct research to understand the current state of accessibility in Collingwood. The insights gathered through these activities will be used to draft a Consultation Findings Report and will directly inform the development of the Town of Collingwood’s 2026–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.

In line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), which emphasizes consulting with people with dis-abilities during accessibility initiatives, this work is guided by the principle of “nothing about us without us.” Including the voices, experiences, and perspectives of people with disabilities is essential to identifying both areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement.

The BDO Accessibility Team uses a structured and effective approach to consultations that supports meaningful engagement with people with disabilities and others involved in advancing accessibility. Through consultations with employees and members of the public, BDO will gather actionable insights that align with the Town’s requirements and strategic priorities, and will help assess areas of strength, current accessibility barriers, and opportunities for improvement.
