- you are a Canadian citizen;
- you are aged 18 or older;
- you qualify to vote in the municipality by meeting one of the three requirements:
- As a resident elector if you live in Collingwood. You may own, rent, live in shared accommodation where you do not pay rent, or live in Collingwood but do not have a fixed address.
- As a non-resident elector if you own or rent property in Collingwood, but it’s not the one where you live on a full-time bases. You can only be a resident elector in 1 municipality. However, you can be a non-resident elector in any other municipality (or municipalities) where you own or rent property.
- As the spouse of a non-resident elector if your spouse owns or rents property in Collingwood other than the one where you live.
- A person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution.
- A corporation.
- A person acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy in accordance with section 44 of the Municipal Elections Act.
- A person who was convicted of the corrupt practice described in subsection 90(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, if voting day in the current election is less than five years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or she was convicted.
- at least 18 years of age
- a Canadian citizen
- a resident of Collingwood, or an owner or tenant of land in Collingwood, or the spouse of an owner or tenant
- not legally prohibited from voting
- not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office
- entitled to be an elector within the Town of Collingwood

When are the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections taking place in Collingwood?
The 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections will take place on October 24, 2022 across the Province of Ontario.
Internet Voting: Electors will be able to cast a ballot anytime, anywhere between October 8 at 10:00 a.m. thru to October 24, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. Further information on how to vote online will be provided closer to the election.
In-person voting will take place on Election Day (October 24, 2022) and on select advance voting dates at the Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste. Marie Street, Collingwood.

How can I confirm if I'm registered to vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections?
The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) produces the preliminary voter roll for municipal elections that is available in the summer of 2022.

How Can I Vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election?
Following a period of public consultation, Council selected a combination of internet voting and in-person voting with ballots counted by electronic tabulator for their method of voting during the 2022 election.

Every person is qualified to be elected or hold office for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee, if on the day the nomination paper is filed, the person is:
Employees of the Town of Collingwood or its local boards who wish to run for office must take an unpaid leave of absence as of the day the employee is nominated and ending on voting day, before submitting the nomination paper. Employees must provide a copy of the documentation showing this leave of absence and effective date are complete, and must resign their position if elected. This does not apply to volunteer firefighters.
Where and When Can Election Signs be Displayed?
Election Signs for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections, 2022 Ontario General Election and all other elections may be displayed up to 60 days prior to election day (August 25, 2022 for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections). Signs must be removed within 72 hours after the day of the Election.

Is Transit Free on Election Day?
Yes, municipal transit is free of charge on Election Day (October 24, 2022) to assist electors in getting to the polls. There is a bus stop located adjacent to the Collingwood Public Library (55 Ste. Marie St., Collingwood) with the last pickup at approximately 8:35 p.m. that evening. Buses pick up from the Library stop approximately once an hour. More frequent buses may be caught at the Collingwood Bus Terminal located at the intersection of Second St. and Pine St. For further information visit www.collingwood.ca/public-transit
